Sound Baths in San Jose
Deep resonance, gentle grounding, and space to rest
There are times when the mind doesn’t need more instructions. It just needs somewhere to settle.
At Nearly Mindful, I offer sound baths in San Jose using Tibetan singing bowls, Koshi chimes, and a gentle grounding practice to help you slow down, rest, and listen.
You don’t need to know how to meditate. You don’t need any spiritual background. You don’t need to do anything perfectly.
Just get comfortable and let the sound carry some of your attention for a while.
What the sound bath experience is like
I usually begin with a short grounding practice to help everyone arrive and settle into the room. From there, the Tibetan bowls take over.
I prefer their deeper, layered tones to the brighter sound of crystal bowls. Each metal bowl has its own voice, with harmonics and vibrations that shift as the sound moves through the room. Toward the end of the experience, I bring in the lighter sound of Koshi chimes to gently bring everyone back.
There’s no right way to experience a sound bath. You might feel deeply relaxed. Your mind might wander. You might notice a particular tone or vibration. You may even fall asleep. All of that is welcome.
Why Tibetan Singing Bowls?
Tibetan bowls have a depth and richness I love. When one is played, you often hear more than a single note. The sound changes as it fades, and sometimes you can feel the vibration as much as hear it.
They’re also wonderfully approachable.
After a sound bath, people are often curious about the bowls. I’m happy to let you take a closer look, ask questions, and sometimes try playing one yourself.
You can simply be curious.
Sound, Rest, and Stress
Sound baths are often described as “sound healing.” I tend to think of them more simply. Sound can help create the conditions for rest.
Research suggests singing bowls support relaxation and help reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
You don’t need to believe that sound is doing something mysterious to you.
You can lie down, listen, and notice what happens when your attention has somewhere else to go for a while.
Open to Everyone
Nearly Mindful sound baths are secular and welcoming. No experience with meditation, mindfulness, yoga, or sound baths is needed.
You can lie on a mat or sit in a chair. You don’t have to be good at relaxing. You don’t have to clear your mind. You just need to be.
Come as you are.

Private and Workplace Sound Baths

For workplaces, they can be a gentle way to introduce mindfulness without asking people to meditate, talk about their feelings, or learn a new skill.
For a little while, people can simply stop doing and listen.

After the Sound Bath
People often leave a sound bath feeling a little more settled, spacious, or rested than when they arrived.
There’s no need to rush off right away. I like to leave a little room at the end to notice how you feel, ask questions, and learn more about the bowls.
If you’re curious, you may even get a chance to try playing one yourself.
Sometimes the nicest part is simply discovering that a bowl you’ve been listening to for the last hour feels completely different when you hold the mallet and hear it come to life in your own hands.
I look forward to finding out which bowl speaks to you!
